ABOUT ME
Let me tell you who I am....
COLLEGE PROFESSOR
My passion for teaching and coaching in the business sector, led me to the College teaching environment. I am teaching and supporting a vast diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles. I have experience in creating student awareness of course objectives and facilitating a positive learning environment, whether it be online, or in the classroom.. I have extensive knowledge of the D2L system and have a strong understanding of curriculum design and student evaluations.
I believe that teaching students is most effective with a positive attitude, and building connections through inquiry-based discussions.
BUSINESS PROFESSIONAL
"A positive attitude will have positive results because attitudes are contagious" (Zig Ziglar).
I believe that my success in leading teams has been built on leading with a collaborative, positive, inclusive appproach. I have been fortunate in my career to have been exposed to a vast array of business opportunities. I was the Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, of a medical supply company for many years. In that position, I gained knowledge in human resource management, operational management and the importance of building positive workplace culture.
I then became the Vice-President of Clinical Operations, for a group of foot and wellness clinics. I utilized my previous experience and evolved the Company into a multi-million dollar operation.
After leaving, I considered what I enjoyed most about my previous jobs and it was the teaching and coaching aspects of both staff and customers. Hence, leading my to consulting and business development and subsequently teaching at Conestoga College.
HEALTHCARE PROVIDER
After graduating with the Julia Smith Award for Clinical Excellence, I began my career at UHN in Toronto. I had the pleasure of working in several hospital environments and private health care clinics over the years. After a full career in healthcare, COVID-19 resulted in my resignation and retirement from practice. I greatly enjoyed meeting new patients and the problem-solving aspects of healthcare and appreciate the valuable lessons it provided me.
COMMUNITY LEADER
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”I believe in giving back to the community and am a passionate proponent of volunteerism. As a result, I have been an active volunteer leader in the Wellington community for the past decade. At Victim Services Wellington, I am both a Team Leader and a direct service volunteer. VSW provides crisis and trauma support to victims and their families.
I am also active with Elora House, which is a shelter for women that have been the victim of human trafficking. It is a privately funded facility and operates solely on private funding. Hence, I started a fundraising campaign and I am the Fundraising Director for the facility.
As a result of my passion for Elora House, I am now on the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization as well.
